oh my. what a dream come true...what a phenomenal victory...
i won't pretend to understand what this historical vote means for my friends of color. but i will always, proudly, remember the moment when it was announced that barack obama will be our next president of the united states. i am so grateful that my own future children will not have to someday wonder (as some of my students have in years past) why our presidents have only been "old, white men."
the sun was shining here in birmingham today. but in more ways than one, it was such a beautiful day!
